4959. Custis Coleman
Custis owned a drugstore in Lexington, Virginia. He died
unmarried.
3119. Robert , Csa Coleman
Robert served in Co. E, 3oth VA Inf. Regiment.
3135. Alfred Coleman
Alfred and his brother, James Emmett, married sisters. And they
lived near each other all their lives, near the settlement of
Canoochee, Georgia, about ten miles northeast of Swainsboro.
Alfred was a farmer. On November 12, 1862 Alfred purchased a
579 acre tract of land left by Elisha for his Estate. This land
adjoined the land of James Herrington Edenfield, who was married
to AlfredÕs sister, Lucretia.
When the Civil War began, Alfred with many of his neighbors
entered service in the local militia, whose members were, in a
short time, sent into other Confederate units. Alfred was
commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on April 27, 1861 in the 59th
Georgia Militia District.
3136. Jeremiah Thaddeus Coleman
Was a farmer before and after the Civil War. Like many others,
he had to start from scratch when he returned.

Lucretia's father, Elisha, was living with she and James at the
time of his death.
James Herrington Edenfield
One of the earlies volunteers for the Civil War, Company H, 2nd
Regt., Georgia Infantry. He stayed with this unit until 1865
when his forces surrendered.

Enlisted early with the Georgia Cavalry Battn, later to be
titled Company E, 5th Regt. Georgia Cavalry.
5003. Jessie Madelaine Coleman
Historian and genealogist. She was a Registered State
Genealogist and historian for the chapter of the DAR of which
she was a member.
