Notes

2756. Joseph M. , Csa Thomas

Stonewall Brigade.

John Winston Quarles

Shortly after their marriage, Cornelia and John moved to
Memphis, Tennessee, where John owned a mercantile store. They
then returned to Virginia, settling in Bedford County.
According to letter Cornelia wrote, they had a son while living
in Memphis, but the child was not mentioned again in subsequent
letters. It is believed the child died shortly after birth, as
Cornelia herself was recovering from a fever and mentioned that
the child was weakly.

2767. Florence Nightingale Quarles

Unmarried.

2768. Ellen Quarles

Unmarried.

1265. Nannie Coleman

Nannie Coleman and her husband, Thomas Edmunds lived at "Elm
Hill", a fine old brick house, surrounded by many acres,
including the lands of the pre-Revolutionary "Old Glebe Church".
He inherited it from his father. "Elm Hill" was sold to Mr.
Harris in 1894.
