Kennedy McMillan 
Margaret was not yet married at the time her fatherÕs will was 
written on 14 Nov 1807.  Her death date is from the Harrison 
County, Kentucky Records, Book D, p. 176:  ÒBody of Margaret 
McMillan was taken in the house of Kennedy McMillan in Harrison 
County on 22 Oct 1824.  An inquest was held and the verdict was 
ÔmurderÕÓ.  MargaretÕs family always believed that her husband 
had one of the negroes murder her, then helped him get away. 
From the will of MargaretÕs mother, Mary Ann Hutchinson Coleman, 
date 26 Jan 1826 (Harrison Co. Ky Court House, WB B, p. 457) 
ÒIt is my will and desire that the 1/6 part of the estate left 
to my disposal is hereby given to the children of my daughter 
Margaret McMillan, deceased, for their entire benefit and to be 
left in the hands of my executors, Edward Coleman and William 
Moore, until they become of age.  My further will should either 
of the above heirs die, his or her portion shall go to the other 
children and in case all shall die before they become of age, it 
is to return to the heirs of Henry Coleman, deceased.Ó 
 
 
834. James Coleman 
James and Mary moved to Mercer County, Kentucky in 1822.  At the 
time of his death, he owned a lot of land and about 100 slaves. 
 
 
Mary ÒMollyÓ Penny 
Most of the information for this family comes from the original 
Family Register of James Coleman and his wife, Mary Penny 
Coleman, who married 15 Feb 1799, in possession of Mrs. T. H. 
Coleman of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, copied by Annetta Coleman 
Smith. 
 
 
1964. Robert Edward Coleman
